Before his television success portraying Hoss Cartwright in the show “Bonanza”, Dolphia married Dan Blocker in 1952. They began dating from their college years at Sul Ross State University and both of them were drama majors.

When Dan died, Dolphia became a widow who committed herself to commemorating Dan and taking care of children. She ran family’s different business concerns and ensured that the family aired their history, power like how they build their marriage.

Together, they welcomed four children. Twin girls called Debra Lee and Danna Lynn, David and Dirk. The influence of ‘Bonanza’ lifted Dan but their family life seemed to be very normal.
